Per Murat Gonul:
i would first check if the project folder is set.
then check basher.sh to see if it loads without an error, if needed debug it.
then i would make sure to load maya from the same terminal that ran basher.sh

or (if RIReadArchive is given a relative path)

just give absolute paths.

Per Mike Janna:
The thing is that we are using a RIB file, that we exported from maya, then used terminal to edit it, and re-import it to build a scene in maya, instead of using terminal. Not even the teacher can use it this quarter.

I gave the absolute paths, and still doesn't work.

First,

What editor are you using to edit the rib files?
Could there be hidden characters in the rib file you are saving?

can you send us a rib file to test here?
Thanks.

I cannot reproduce the error here on RedHat, we really need a file that is throwing the error. Having the entire maya project folder might help a lot too.

Is there any more information available on this problem? Is it persisting?
