Go to preferences and disable OpenGL, that should fix it.

This error can also be caused by the memory buffer overloading. To fix this error, got to Edit > hold down CTRL + SHIFT and click Preferences > once the preferences load, let go of CRTL and SHIFT. You should see an option called 'secret' at the bottom. Under "Purge Every 0 Frames During Make Move" change 0 to 20. This will force AE to clear the memory every 20th frame.

The way to clear it when you're working (not rendering) would be:
Edit > Purge > All
