Issues specific to Maya and the render farm.

farm only renders three frames at a time

Postby dhernand on Jul 30th, '12, 08:27

I submitted a job to the render farm. I was the only one on it and it was only using three nodes. My file
size was under 200 MB. Four frames took the farm two hours to render. I have just submitted 240 frames and the farm is only rendering three at a time.

It is because you scene is so heavy. The file size is not what I mean it has to do with you scene settings. I see that this is for Bridget's lighting class? You are probably using a really high acuracy with final gather and it is taking a long time to compute.

The farm calculates priority by first rendering 3 frames of the animation. Thus as the frame already takes 98 mins on average, it will need to first pass that same threshold in order for the rest of the animation to be completely distributed onto the entire server.
