Render time differences

Postby dhernand on Mar 12th, '13, 08:46

The CPU Time per Frame estimate was 0 hr 0 min 18 secs, in total there were 200 frames. the first 190 frames rendered in less than an hour, but afterwards it got stuck, several were "dropped from grid (a)". The last 10 frames had the status of "rendering", but it took over 3 hours to render them. Some also displayed this message "Deleted (2+ hrs/frame)" which is odd because all the frames were under 30 seconds to render in a normal machine.

usually dropped from grid means that someone logged on to or restarted the computer that frame was rendering on in the labs. As for the frames that rendered at 2+ hours, every single frame that errored out was a mac. Next time you submit this job specify linux only in your renderfarm submission options. That should resolve the issue. I might also suggest opening the file on a mac and seeing what is causing it to crash.
